Tapping into Calm and Clarity on World Mental Health Day
Did you know that according to the World Health Organization (WHO) globally, around 1 in 8 people (970 million) are living with a mental health disorder?
Even more concerning is that over 75% of those in low- and middle-income countries receive no treatment. This highlights how essential it is to have accessible tools for stress relief and emotional balance.
Let’s get real here. If you’ve ever found yourself saying, “I don’t have time to relax,” then that’s when you need it the most. That’s exactly why I decided to host an event for World Mental Health Day focused on tapping into calm and clarity. Let’s be honest- we’re all juggling a hundred things, but our stress levels don’t have to be one of them.
At this event, I walked attendees through the essentials of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). This isn’t just some woo-woo trend; EFT is a powerful blend of modern psychology and ancient acupressure. Think of it like acupuncture, minus the needles. We’re talking about tapping on nine specific meridian points to help you release stress, reduce pain, support your immune system, and even detox your organs!
Here’s a quick rundown of what we did:
Getting Grounded: Before diving in, I asked everyone to bring up something that's been weighing on them. Whether it’s work stress, the process of finding clients, or general life overwhelm, starting with a clear focus helps. I encouraged everyone to rate how intense that stress felt on a scale of 0 to 10 to track the shifts as we went along.
The Tapping Technique: We started with the setup statement: “Even though I feel [insert your stress here], I choose to have compassion for myself and this feeling.” What we do is recognize the truth of the issue while complimenting the statement with a phrase that brings comfort. This isn’t about pretending everything’s peachy; it’s about acknowledging how you feel with kindness and giving yourself permission to release it. Then, we began the tapping sequence, moving through points. Each point correlates with an organ and its energy flow, like the stomach (hello, anxious butterflies) or the kidneys (our stress and adrenal powerhouses).
Emotions Unleashed: As we tapped, I invited everyone to notice any sensations that came up in their bodies. Is there tension in the neck? A heavy feeling in the chest? Maybe a mental swirl of worries? This is where the magic happens because tapping isn’t about suppressing emotions; it’s about letting them rise and fall like waves, bringing a release that’s oh-so-satisfying.
Reflect and Release: After each round, we checked in to notice any shifts. Maybe that tension in the neck softened a little. Perhaps the heavy feeling in the chest eased up, or something even more surprising came to the surface. The goal isn’t to “fix” everything at once; it’s about giving yourself a moment of relief, knowing you’re honoring your emotions and allowing them to move through you.

Some of the results from this event really showcased the power of EFT. Lisa shared she had back pain when she joined the event and after it… (Hear it from her below)
What Other Participants Said: “I was more curious about how this works. I wasn’t conscious of having a heavy head or anything like that. But afterward? I just feel… light. It’s like something’s been cleared, like this lightness is there now, and it’s unmistakable.”
Another participant arrived at the session battling laryngitis, barely able to speak. By the end, her voice was noticeably clearer, and she felt deeply relaxed. She even shared, “The knot I felt during the exercise is completely gone,” which brought her an incredible sense of relief.
If you’re curious to try it for yourself, remember this: you don’t have to be an expert, and you don’t have to go through it alone. Start with the basics, and let your body and emotions guide you. Tapping can be done solo, but for those deeper layers, it’s always a good idea to work with someone trained who can support your journey.
And remember, we don’t need a “perfect” time to start making self-care a priority. The time to relax is right now, exactly when life feels the craziest. So, let’s make stress relief a part of our regular toolkit, just like brushing our teeth or taking that first sip of coffee in the morning. Because, trust me- you are worth it.
With love and gratitude,
Elisa
