Tapping Into Confidence Before a Big Event

Tapping into Confidence

Ever get that heavy feeling in your stomach when you're about to do something big?

Maybe you're stepping into a room full of experienced professionals, or you've got an opportunity that feels almost too good to be true. You're excited, but your heart? It’s racing. Your stomach? Doing flips.

You’re not alone, my friend.

On my latest podcast episode of Tapping Into Emotional Freedom, I sat down with Sam, founder of Safe Heart Connections, who was preparing for a major event in her field. Like many of us, she was thrilled about the opportunity but also felt the weight of nerves and self-doubt creeping in. Her heart was ready, but her body needed a little more convincing.

Cue the Tapping Magic

For those who don’t know, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or tapping, is a practice that involves stimulating acupressure points while repeating affirming statements. Think of it as a gentle way to tell your nervous system, “It’s okay, we’ve got this.” And trust me, your nervous system listens.

Sam’s Journey to Confidence

When Sam joined me, she admitted feeling like she might not belong at this event—despite being a powerhouse in her field. She wanted to show up confident, excited, and relaxed but couldn’t shake that nervous feeling, especially in her stomach. Sound familiar?

We got to work with some tapping. As we tapped on different points, she started releasing that tight ball of anxiety and turning it into something softer. At first, her nervousness was at an 8 out of 10. By the end of the session, she was down to a 6. While it wasn’t totally gone, something had shifted.

Here’s what she said afterward:
“I still feel the nerves, but they’re not overwhelming anymore. I know I’m going to be safe, and it’s going to be okay.”

Tapping Into Your Own Confidence

Big events, major opportunities, or stepping outside our comfort zone will always come with a sprinkle of nerves. But here’s the thing—those nerves are a signal. Your heart’s trying to tell you something, and that something is usually growth.

So, how do you navigate it? You tap. You breathe. You tune in.

And just like Sam, you remind yourself that you belong in every room you step into.

Quick Tapping Hack

Here’s a little secret I shared with Sam: You don’t have to do a full tapping session in front of everyone at an event (although, hey, if that’s your style, go for it). You can discreetly tap on your fingertips under the table or use specific points between your pinky and ring finger—nobody will even notice! It’s like having a reset button you can press anytime, anywhere.

What’s Your Heart Trying to Say?

Next time you're faced with a big opportunity and your stomach starts flipping, pause and ask yourself: What is my heart trying to tell me? Tapping is just one way to tune in and listen.

Confidence isn’t about never feeling nervous. It’s about stepping into those big moments knowing you’ve got your own back. So take a deep breath, trust your heart, and show up for yourself.

You’re ready. You belong.

With love and gratitude,

Elisa
